Festa President's Message
In 1967 my family and I moved here from Cape
Town, South Africa. We had just missed Festa by a couple
of weeks.
In 1968, our family first experienced the Festa. I have
such wonderful memories. They include many years of walking
in the parade, watching my great-aunt cook in the kitchen
and to serving “sopas” in the hall. Some of
my fondest memories are watching plays at the hall and
singing to the music played by the
Point Loma Strings. To this day, being at the hall brings
a smile to my face as I remember the functions that brought
my family and friends together; for that I am forever grateful.
A love for the Portuguese heritage and traditions is why
there are so many beautiful people that come together year
after year, to help with the Festa.
It is our hope that our children, Jared and Taya have
come to understand there Portuguese heritage and in some
way it will help them in their journey of life.
Our children are very different people. Taya wants to
be a Jockey, it’s a hard industry to get into, but
with her Portuguese determination she has a good chance.
Our son Jared is our dreamer, he wants to be a golfer,
snowboarder or possibly a traveler. Who knows, with Faith
and the Holy Spirit it all might come true!
It is with Faith
and Prayer that we are able to do this. We are very grateful
to our family, friends and community
for their love and support this past year. Our Festa
this year will be May 28 thru the 30th.
