It
was before dawn on June 3rd, 1990, my parents, Lou
and Linda Brito were feeling relieved and happy. My
Mother had just given birth to her first child, a healthy
little girl with all ten fingers and ten toes. They
named me Ariel and let me know that I was given an
extra blessing that day because it was not only a beautiful
Sunday morning, but it was also Festa morning. They
believed the Holy Spirit would always hold a special
place in my heart, and now seventeen years later, it
appears to be especially true. I am extremely honored
to be your Festa Queen for 2008, and I take the responsibility
seriously. I pray that I can fulfill my role, gracefully
and graciously.
My parents and I are forever
grateful to my Mother’s godmother Bea, for
giving me this once in a lifetime opportunity. I will rely on my faith and the
guidance of the Holy Spirit throughout this special year, and I am committed
to making Bea and the entire De Silva family proud. As a representative of our
Portuguese community, I only hope that I can learn in the spirit of Saint Isabel
how rewarding serving others can be. I am in awe of those individuals who dedicate
themselves year after year for their community and upholding their heritage.
I look forward to being a part of this tradition that has lasted 98 wonderful
years.
Sincerely,
Ariel Brito
